Jeg har bakgrunn som sosialantropolog, og har forsket på hvordan utbygging av store energiprosjekter (som olje, gass og vindkraft) påvirker lokalsamfunn på ulike måter. Jeg er særlig interessert i hva slike utbygginger gjør med måten vi tenker om hva framtiden har i vente lokalt og for samfunnet. I tillegg er jeg opptatt av hvordan utbygginger endrer forholdet vårt til omgivelsene våre, til naturen og landskapet vi er en del av. På Vestlandsforsking har jeg også jobbet med klimaomstilling i kommunene, og hvordan de arbeider med å tilrettelegge for utslippskutt hos innbyggerne slik at vi kan nå klimamålene.
I Just Transform er jeg spesielt interessert i hvordan ulike aktører forstår den grønne og den digitale omstillingen, og hvilke muligheter og utfordringer de møter på veien. Jeg gleder meg til å gjøre feltarbeidet, til å snakke med folk og besøke ulike bedrifter og huber i Grøn Region Vestland, og til å lære mer om hvordan de tenker om endringene samfunnet står midt oppi i dag. I Just Transform jobber vi tverrfaglig, og jeg gleder meg også til å lære mer fra kollegene mine og deres kunnskap om digital omstilling og inkludering i arbeidslivet, slik at vi kan se den grønne og den digitale omstillingen i sammenheng.
Meet our researcher–Ragnhild Freng Dale (Vestlandsforsking)
As a social anthropologist working on energy transitions, I am interested in understanding how people and local communities are impacted by the development of new energy infrastructure like oil, gas and wind power. I’m especially interested in how these developments affect the way people think about what the future holds for their communities and society writ large. I am also interested in how the development of energy infrastructure changes how we relate to our surroundings, to nature and the landscape we are part of. At the Western Norway Research Institute, I have also worked on climate transition in Norwegian municipalities, in particular how municipalities try to enable emission cuts for their inhabitants so that we can reach our climate targets as a society.
In Just Transform I am curious about how different actors understand the green and digital transition, and what opportunities and challenges these transitions bring with them. I look forward to the fieldwork, where we will talk to people and visit different organisations and hubs that are part of Grøn Region Vestland (Green Region Vestland), to learn more about how they think about the changes society faces today. The Just Transform project is interdisciplinary, and I look forward to learning more from my colleagues about the interaction between the green and the digital transition and what it means for inclusion in working life.
